National Library Week: April 13-19

We've signed the declaration. Have you? ilovelibraries.org/declarationThis week, the Dodge City Public Library joins libraries in schools, campuses and communities nationwide in celebrating  National Library Week, a time to highlight the value of libraries, librarians and library workers.

This year, we are encouraging community members to sign the
Declaration for the Right to Libraries
.  Libraries change lives.  In the spirit of the United States Declaration of Independence and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we believe that libraries are essential to a democratic society. Every day, in countless communities across our nation and the world, millions of children, students and adults use libraries to learn, grow and achieve their dreams.  We declare and affirm our right to quality libraries -public, school, academic, and special – and urge you to show your support by signing your name to this Declaration for the Right to Libraries.

Coming Home to Poetry

Coming Home to PoetryThursday, April 24th, 7:00 PM.

The notion of “home” is a long-held Kansas value. Join Poet Laureate of Kansas Wyatt Townley as part of her statewide conversation about coming home to poetry. “Poetry is a place we can return to in all kinds of weather, with its innate power to heal and comfort, transform and inspire. Its porch light is always on.”
