Friends of the Library
Our Mission
The mission of the Friends organization is to provide annual programming, volunteer service and financial support which will enhance the Library's mission of providing resources and services necessary to meet the informational needs and interests of our community.
The library has became much more than a place to check out books. With the addition of computers, video, DVD, CD, audio tapes, talking books, on-line databases and internet access the library has become a comprehensive information and entertainment resource center. Staying abreast of all of the latest communication and information technology means utilizing every possible resource.
Your
support of the Dodge City Friends of the Library enables the organization to
provide materials and services which the library would be unable to afford without
the work of the Friends Group. The Friends raise funds for these activities
with special projects such as the monthly book sale. Recent projects have included
assisting with the 100th anniversary celebration, purchasing a quality paper
shredder for the staff, assisting with activities in the Youth Services Department
and sponsoring the program "Kansas and Kansans through the lens of F. M. Steele"
from the Kansas Humanities Council.
The
Friends Book Sale is held the first Saturday of each month from 10am–2pm in
the Friends Corner on the lower level of the library. A variety of materials
is available for a donation.
